These stacking toys are used in the Montessori classroom to aid the child in developing the proper grasp and hand-eye coordination. They are perfect toys to help the child begin to hone the grasp needed for writing later on. They are also useful in helping the child to identify colors. They are sized so that they present no choking hazard for the child. The objects are colored with watercolor stain and sealed with a non-toxic sealer to prevent the color from bleeding should they child put them in his/her mouth. The bases are made with solid hardwood that can vary from fir to locally harvested oak, depending upon availability.
Unlike other stacking toys that have multiple colors, shapes, and sizes on the same toy, these stacking toys isolate the particular skill of placing the ring or block on the dowel by keeping the shapes and colors constant. In this way, the child is not overwhelmed by so many variances.
The dimensions of the toys are approximately 14 x 15,25 cm on the base and 11,5 cm tall.
